Another poster asked me what issues I care about.

I want someone who won't pander to my intelligence. Sure, I'm black, and I'm a voter. But don't lump me in with "Black Voters", because mine are not a monolithic people. We are a multilayered, intricately woven, plurivocal, diverse -- and in some ways, divergent -- group of people, and I am sick and tired of the Democratic Party treating us as if we're all singleminded. I want a party that doesn't take our voting strength for granted, and an individual to lead that party toward making concrete change that addresses the social ills that plague this community while *at the same time* holding my people to a sense of personal responsibility. I want someone who will stand up to white liberals and their apologist stance when it comes to black/brown people and our complicity in the state of our communities.
