L.A. Rebellion....discussion of racial divide. Is your perception the reality? we all should be asking ourselves this. How much of our perceptions are based on fact, fiction, myths, conditioning, the media? Thanks to your blog for presenting all the divergent point of views. sandra, September 4, 2005 10:50 PM

I keep hearing that there was RAPE at the superdome.I have not seen, nor read a full report about the suppose rape victim.I read that was unconfirmed as well. I do think that rape was bought in to sensationalized the opinion of complete lawlessness at the superdome. Black people in despair, and in dire need, make good TV for these networks. I trully hate how the media sensationalized black behavior to damn there heathens on screen. Josie, September 7, 2005 1:25 AM
Josie, the police chief of New Orleans says they haven't been able to corroborate any claims of rape. They did find at least two murdered children. But, most fatalities in the arenas died from respiratory failure. I do expect there will be confirmation of some crimes, but the amount of criminality has probably been greatly exaggerated. With 20,000 to 30,000 people in the Superdome and Coliseum, there would have had to be a significant number of rapists and child molesters among the number. And, it was pitch dark in there most of the time. So far, only about 125 people have been arrested. But that has not stopped rumors. The police chief in Baton Rouge had to go on television an assure the public that there aren't criminal gangs heading that way from New Orleans, and, that crime has not increased since they took in evacuees.
